What is counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy.
Through a skilled process of listening and responding, I hope that I will be able to help you to explore your difficulties. You may want to look at options and make plans for change or development, you maybe feeling unable to cope because of stress or you may want to share sorrow, pain and confusion. The inevitable transitions through life’s journey may also be proving to be stressful for you at the moment.
In our counselling relationship, I will have a deep respect for who you are and for the fact that you are in charge of your life and probably have the best resources to heal and empower yourself to effect change and emotional growth. I will endeavour to be non-judgmental and offer you a safe environment in which, with affirmation and challenge, you can explore the best way forward.
Confidentiality will be a very high priority.
Asking for help is not a statement that you cannot cope. It is a firm decision to take control and begin to understand what troubles you.
